Luke Palmer

The Artist known as Acerone

About

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to walls, colour, and the raw energy of graffiti. What began as late-night painting in Bristol’s streets grew into a 30-year journey of creating large-scale murals, immersive artworks, and collaborative projects across the UK and beyond.

But my work has never been just about paint. It’s about people.

Over the past two decades, I’ve combined my artistic practice with a career in education and facilitation. As a qualified lecturer, youth worker, and arts practitioner, I’ve had the privilege of working with young people, communities, and professionals in all kinds of settings — from colleges and youth centres to children’s hospitals and international collaborations.

What I’ve learned is this: art has the power to connect us, to heal, to inspire, and to build something greater than ourselves.

Biography

Luke Palmer, also known as Acerone, is a Bristol-based artist whose practice spans three decades of graffiti, street art, and collaborative painting. Beginning in the mid-1990s as part of the internationally acclaimed Twentieth Century Frescos crew, Palmer quickly established himself within the vibrant UK graffiti scene. His work has since evolved to encompass large-scale murals, gallery exhibitions, and participatory arts projects across Europe, Australia, and the UK. He has exhibited widely, including numerous group shows and three solo exhibitions in Bristol and London.

Holding a BA (Hons) in Visual Art, a PGCE, and a Foundation Degree in Creative Arts Therapies Studies, Palmer draws upon a diverse academic and professional background. For over 15 years he lectured in art and youth engagement before dedicating himself full-time to his artistic practice and to directing Collaborative Painting UK, an initiative that creates inclusive, participatory art experiences for communities, schools, hospitals, and cultural institutions.

His murals are characterised by bold colour, dynamic forms, and an underlying influence of sacred geometry and movement, often echoing the rhythm and energy of the city. Beyond painting, Palmer is deeply committed to curatorial projects, arts in health, and socially engaged practice, bringing people together through creativity in ways that inspire, heal, and connect.

Artist Statement

I create bold, vibrant murals and collaborative art experiences that transform spaces and inspire people. Drawing on over 30 years of experience in street art and contemporary painting, my work brings colour, energy, and movement into offices, workplaces, and public spaces, helping organisations reimagine their environments.

Through Collaborative Painting workshops, I deliver unique participatory projects that engage teams in the creative process. These workshops and large-scale artworks are designed not only to enhance visual identity but also to strengthen communication, encourage collaboration, and promote wellbeing within the workplace and wider communities.

My murals capture the dynamism of the city and the flow of human interaction, using spray paint, acrylics, and mixed media to create striking focal points that elevate a space. Whether developing bespoke commissions, facilitating corporate team - building projects, or curating immersive creative events, my aim is to make art both impactful and accessible - an experience that resonates with staff, clients, and visitors alike.

Art has the power to energise spaces and people. By blending creativity, collaboration, and professional delivery, I help organisations harness that power to build environments where people feel inspired, connected, and valued.
